Imaging & Diagnostic Services
Diagnostic imaging is the medical discipline devoted to imaging the inside of the body, analyzing the image to detect abnormalities or disease, and in some instance, treating the problem. Radiologists and Nuclear Medicine Physicians are specially trained doctors who have undergone additional education in diagnostic imaging and image-guided interventions. Primary care physicians, doctors of cardiology, neurology, orthopedics, and others rely upon diagnostic imaging to confirm medical diagnoses.
Radiation Oncology
Radiation oncology is used primarily to destroy tumor cells by means of precisely targeted radiation. Radiation therapy is used to treat cancerous tumors of the brain, neck, throat, breast, lungs, colon, prostate and other organs. It also may be used for the relief of symptoms caused by cancer.
Technology
Our complement of sophisticated equipment includes high-speed Computed Tomography (CT) scanners, MRI scanners, PET/CT scanners, digital mammography with Computer-Aided Detection (CAD), linear acceleration, image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and other advanced radiation therapy techniques that utilize the latest equipment and methods for treating cancer that are intended to spare as much healthy tissue as possible.
Research
Many of our physicians participate in or conduct clinical research studies. The work they perform helps advance the scientific body of knowledge and contributes to development of improved imaging and cancer treatment techniques.
