Cancer Treatment

Appropriate treatment for cancer depends on the type of cancer you have. The type and staging (or extent) of your cancer will in turn impact the type of treatment possibilities that exist which may include radiation therapy, chemotherapy, surgery or a combination of these.RAS has built its longstanding reputation as the leading radiation oncology provider in Northern California by consistently delivering quality healthcare for more than 95 years introducing innovative therapies to the area, cultivating top notch expertise, compassion and commanding world-renown respect for its clinical studies.

Radiation destroys the ability of malignant cells to grow and divide and therefore is an effective tool in cancer treatment. Radiation therapy can be used on almost every part of the body and is often prescribed in combination with surgery and/or chemotherapy.

Our board-certified radiation oncologists and licensed therapists are especially trained to treat the most advanced and challenging cases of cancer with the utmost compassion. Our physicians work closely with other specialists to determine the most effective treatment for our patients. This treatment team may include surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, pathologists, radiologists and other specialty trained physicians. An individualized course of treatment is designed for each patient to achieve the best possible outcome and chance for a cure while minimizing side effects and maintaining quality of life. RAS’ social worker is available for our patients to ask questions and to assist them in finding available services such as transportation.
